360 Medical were awarded the tender to carry out roofing repairs at Upton Hospital, Slough.
Originally built in the 1830’s as the Eton Union Workhouse, the building became an emergency hospital in 1940 before benefitting from considerable extensions in 1948, when it first opened as Upton Hospital.
Many of the buildings still date from the Victorian era and the roofs were in need of repair. In particular, protection was needed to prevent loose tiles falling on passing pedestrians and vehicles.
360 installed snow/tile guards around the perimeter of Block 10, Pine House. Once scaffolding was in place, we could see that additional work was required to replace rotten fascias and guttering.
During the works it became apparent that two sections of gable walling were unsafe. The issues were communicated to the client who carried out an emergency site visit to assess the situation. The client instructed 360 Medical to carry out the requited remedial works including pointing, rebuilding and roofing to make the areas safe, on receipt of a valid purchase order.
Work was carried out over 5 weeks, with a priority to maintain safe access to visitors at all times.
